Bring the entire family to Winterfest, an exciting day of outdoor activities celebrating winter, to be held at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, February 6th, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This free event includes a full day of activities that focus on how wildlife and people deal with the winter snow and cold. Snowshoes will be available for visitors to try at no charge. Outdoor activities include a horse-drawn hay ride, scavenger hunt, bonfire, guided nature walk, and exhibits on wildlife, animal tracks, winter survival and winter bird feeding. Inside the Old School House you will find face painting, nature crafts and the Friends of Sherburne Gift Shop. A live raptor program will be presented at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee will be available for purchase all day in the hospitality tent and a brat and hot dog lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Friends of Sherburne will hold a silent auction fundraiser.
