2011 was an exciting year for the Fish and Wildlife Service. The July conference Conserving the Future in Madison, Wisconsin finished a long visioning input period from across the country resulting in the formation of a new framework for guiding the management of our natural resources. Read about the entire process, watch videos and review the final document at the website http://americaswildlife.org/ With the naming of Daniel Ashe as Director of Fish and Wildlife Service June 30, 2011 and Chief of National Wildlife Refuge System James Kurth appointed October 25, 2011 it is a time of change and opportunities to instill new energies to the challenges brought out in the Conserving the Future vision. Key to this effort are the input of people across the spectrum of scientific professions, hunters, farmers and ranchers, businesses, communities and volunteers such as friends groups.
